Committees

NAIOP is an organization that relies heavily on participation from its membership to manage the operations. To aid in the direction of the organization and ease the workload, NAIOP separates into several different committees that perform a specific function. Each committee is made up of a Chairperson and a varying number of NAIOP members depending on the objectives and workload of that committee. Each committee sets goals to attain for the year that work synergistically with the other committees to assist NAIOP in attaining its overall organization objectives.

Chapter Committees:

Government Affairs

The Government Affairs Committee is responsible for monitoring state, local and federal government as it relates to the commercial real estate and development industry. It is also responsible for making recommendations to the Northern Nevada Chapter NAIOP Board of Directors and its Political Action Committee (“PAC”), regarding NAIOP’s position on proposed policies, laws and ordinances, on local and state levels, as it relates to the commercial real estate and development industry. The Committee places special focus on local Planning, Building and Public Works departments to identify issues of concern to our membership.

Programs

The Programs Committee establishes the annual calendar of events, secures speakers and event sponsors and selects event venues. Committee is responsible for managing the content and material presented by the speakers and providing sponsor recognition. The committee’s goal is to maintain a balance of programs that are educational, informational, timely and entertaining. Multi-Family

With so much emphasis in our marketplace on affordable housing options, tenant rights, and landlord tenant relations, while at the same time a boom in renovation and building of apartment communities, it is important that we as a group work to ensure our industry has representation with policy makers. NAIOP Northern Nevada is working to provide this representation as a group and work with City and County leaders to develop plans and processes that not only enable more units to be available, which helps pricing pressure, but to ensure our unified voice is heard.

The goals of this committee include:

Ensure representation exists in local and state government as it relates to zoning, rent control, and tenant/owner dispute processes; and
Work to share information throughout the organization and with interested parties to get a collective consensus on issues affecting multifamily ownership and development.

NAIOP Northern Nevada remains committed to all areas of multifamily to represent the Investors, Owners, Managers and Brokers with local government and regional management entities. We work to give input on proposed legislation and regulations to minimize their negative impacts and inform our membership of the risks and impacts of these changes.

Sponsorship/Membership

The Sponsorship/Membership Committee is responsible for actively recruiting new members, developing marketing strategies for reaching prospective members and following up on membership leads. Committee is also responsible for follow up phone calls to prospective annual sponsors as well as coming up with new leads to contact for future sponsorship opportunities. The committee develops marketing strategies and actively pursues the implementation and growth of the sponsorship program. Education
